I’ve never taken an exam on the PRONTO platform. Is there a tool that can help me familiarize myself with it?

  • Yes, the PRONTO Special Inspector Plans Exercise can prepare you to take a SI exam on PRONTO. This free interactive walkthrough provides information about the PRONTO platform and provides specifics around reading the plan sets/exhibits. You will also be able to take a guided practice exam.

How long do I have to complete all module exams to achieve an ICC Special Inspector Certification?

  • You will have three (3) years to pass all necessary modules and prerequisites to achieve an ICC Special Inspector Certification. You won’t have to take these exams in any particular order, so you can make the decision on which module you want to assess yourself first. Don’t forget you may also take an exam a total of six times in a six-month period.

What if I already have a Special Inspector Certification? Do I still need to pass all 3 modules to get another SI Certification?

  • No. You can take the three module exams in any order.

What will I receive when I pass each module?

  • You will receive a passing letter or notice.

Once I complete all three SI modules, how will I receive my wall certificate? Is there an additional fee?

  • As long as you have passed all modules necessary for Special Inspector certification and they are in Active status, the designation will be automatically granted. You don’t need to take any action. You can print a copy of your Wall Certificate through your myICC account, available online for your convenience.

Are the prerequisites the same as before for Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, and Structural Welding?

Will I be shown how to view the exhibits (paper plan sets) before the exam?

  • Yes, prior to starting your examination, you will take a tutorial that will provide instructions on using the various functions within the examination and allow you to practice so you can get familiar with them. Included in the tutorial are how to scroll using the scroll bars, how to open and close exhibits, and how to zoom in and out using the Zoom Button.
