Concurrent access supports collaboration across teams through a shared access to Digital Codes Premium subscriptions. With Concurrent Access, a Digital Codes user “checks out” a Premium subscription for use across their active browser session using a concurrent code. Once finished with the Premium subscription, the user will end the concurrent session, freeing the subscription to be available for the next concurrent user. The concurrent code, number of users who can be connected at a single time and Premium titles accessible from a defined concurrent code are all configured by the admin user (the individual who completed the subscription transaction).
While actively connected to a concurrent access profile, users will be able to access all Premium features across the configured titles and view notes created by other users within the code. The user will remain connected to the concurrent code so long as they are actively using the platform. After 20 minutes of inactivity, the concurrent connection will be ended to free up the subscription for use by another concurrent user. When a user enters a concurrent code with all subscriptions actively in use, they will receive a message that no subscriptions are available. Once an active user disconnects or is timed out due to inactivity, the user will be able to access the connect to the concurrent profile.
Concurrent access is available across all Digital Codes Premium subscriptions and can be configured from the Concurrent tab of the License Configuration page.
Configuring a Concurrent Access Code
Concurrent access allows one or more users to access code book content and collaborate through a common code. The number of users able to connect to a concurrent code at the same time, as well as the code book titles available through a code, is configured by the user who creates the code.
For example: if you have a team of two members with whom you want to share the 2021 International Building Code (2012 IBC) but keep the ownership with yourself, here is how you can utilize concurrent access for this purpose –
You can purchase 3 licenses for this title, keep 1 license for your use, for the two members, you can generate a concurrent code for which you will set the number of users (licenses) as 2 and select the title for the code as 2021 IBC. Next, you can invite those two members via their email address and share the generated code, which they can enter on Digital Codes and access 2021 IBC. Both will be able to access the title at the same time using the code.
Managing a Concurrent Access Code
You will have the ownership of the code so you can change whom it needs to be assigned to, you can update the titles accessible through that code, you can delete the code.
You can generate different codes for different titles or combine multiple titles under a single code.
To create a concurrent code, hover over the Account Menu in the upper right corner and select Licenses, seen in image below. Click here for a full overview of how to generate a concurrent code.
