The IECC Development Committees will identify topical areas for establishment of subcommittees and working groups. Each subcommittee and working group will have a scope approved by the committee. Subcommittees will focus on specific topical areas contained within the code (e.g., HVAC&R) whereas working groups will be established to work on cross-cutting or foundational issues on either a temporary or ongoing basis. For example, a temporary working group can focus on identifying parameters to be used by the committee in cost effectiveness and other analysis. An ongoing working group could focus on provisions for specific building types (e.g., multifamily or hospital) that require focus across subcommittees. Work groups serve in an advisory capacity to the subcommittees.
What are subcommittees and working groups and how will they function?
