What is the anticipated time commitment of a committee member?

When considering code change proposals (public input), the committees are likely to meet anywhere from one to three times a month for two to three hours. The frequency and length of meetings is directly correlated with the amount of public input received, adequate time for full deliberation and consensus development, and fulfilling the requirements in the ICC Consensus Procedures such that the development schedule is maintained. In all likelihood, this will require adjustments as the process is underway. Additionally, committee members will need preparation time between meetings to review the proposals and recommendations from work groups. When not considering code change proposals, the committees will still meet (although likely less frequently) to conduct committee administrative business and work on committee generated proposals and other energy-related issues noted in the framework. Committee members may also participate in work groups and serve in a liaison role to bring work group recommendations back to the committee.
