Get Instant Answers to Code Section Questions & Summarize Code Sections with Ease:
This release introduces a more interactive, streamlined way to engage with the codes. Users can now explore AI-powered tools and insights directly in context, designed to keep focus on the content that matters most. With two new options “Ask question” and “Summarize section” AI Navigator enables users to either ask targeted questions about specific code sections or request concise summaries of complex content. Whether you’re clarifying technical requirements or seeking quick overviews, these features help accelerate your code research and improve understanding without leaving the page.
Ask Question: To ask AI Navigator a question about a specific code question, simply toggle over the AI Navigator icon in the Section Action Toolbar and select “Ask question.” Type your question into the text box in the bottom right corner and click the green arrow to submit. AI Navigator will then generate a response to help accelerate your code research.
In the example seen in the image below, we asked AI Navigator a question about the maximum heights in feet of buildings for all types of construction. By referencing Section 504.3 in the 2024 International Building Code (IBC), AI Navigator successfully generated the answer, seen below.
Summarize Section: To ask AI Navigator to summarize a code section, simply toggle over the AI Navigator icon in the Section Action Toolbar and select “Summarize section.” A concise summary of the code section will then be generated in seconds.
In the example seen in the image below, we asked AI Navigator to summarize Section 602.4 Type IV of the 2024 International Building Code (IBC). By referencing the section directly, AI Navigator generated a highl-level summary explaining the fire-resistance ratings and structural requirements for Type IV (mass timber) construction.
Which Codes Have AI Navigator Embedded?
AI Navigator is currently embedded across several titles such as the 2024 I-Codes with functionality available directly within code sections. Upcoming integrations will even include new titles such as the 2025 New York State Codes and 2024 Epcot Codes.
