Understanding text markup in codes

Changes to code titles are indicated with different visual markup on or next to the text of the section:

  • Blue Text: Technical code changes from the previous edition of the International Codes are shown in blue text. This is an example of a technical change.
  • Red Text: National (outside the U.S.) and state amendments and errata to the International Codes are shown in red text. This is an example of a country, state and errata amendment.
  • Fuchsia Text: City or local amendments and errata to the International Codes are shown in fuchsia text. This is an example of a city or local amendment.
  • Deletion Marker (): Deletion markers are provided in margin where an entire section, paragraph, table or exception has been deleted from the prior cycle of the title.
  • Relocation Marker (*): Single asterisk indicates text or table has been relocated within the code. Full relocation table listed in Preface.
