Conducting Content Searches

The Advanced search tool helps you find content by using one or more filters. You can search for words, phrases, and exact phrases. You can also enter terms to exclude.

The ICC search tool is context specific.

  • When a user views a content page, the search scans the active title and not the ICC library.
  • Outside a title, the search scans a single category (e.g. I-Codes or Standards).
  • Searches are geolocation specific if a) the user sets their active location and b) there is least one title for that location in their Premium subscription.
  1. Click the Advanced button at the top of the page.

  1. Type a portion of a search word or phrases in the correct field(s). The search tool auto-suggests matches which can lead to specific result set.

  1. Click Search to see the results.

Near Search

This unique tool runs two searches at the same time and generates results based on text proximity. The search tool shows results when both words (or phrases) are within 50 words of each other.

  • In this example, the search tool finds four results for the string: egress near ceiling height.

Additional Categories

You can add categories to the search.

Content Type

Use content filters to expand or narrow the type of content you want to scan in the search (e.g. just tables or figures).
