I passed my exam, but I don’t see a score. What did I make?

Congratulations on passing your exam!

ICC exams are designed to measure minimum competency, which means they determine whether a candidate has the essential knowledge and skills needed to perform the job safely and effectively. The goal of the exam is not to rank candidates or compare one person’s performance to another’s – it simply confirms whether the required standard has been met.

If a candidate does not pass, a numerical score is provided to show how close they were to meeting that minimum standard. This information can help identify areas for improvement before retaking the exam.

However, if you do pass, ICC does not provide a numerical score. That’s because everyone who passes has demonstrated the same level of qualification needed to enter the profession. A higher passing score does not mean someone is more qualified than another passing candidate – it only means they exceeded the minimum requirement by a different margin.

Pass = you met the standard
Fail = a numerical score and Diagnostic Report are provided for feedback

Passing scores are not shared because all passing candidates are equally qualified.

Your passing result confirms that you have the knowledge and skills required for certification.

If your local jurisdiction requires that you meet a minimum score that is different than the passing score, ICC can help! Fill out this form and we will have the request processed within 7-10 business days.
